J : What ?! Do you want to get killed ? Boo is a very dangerous person you know !

D : Listen, i dare you to go beyond the Radley’s gate ! I am sure you would not do it ?

S : Really ? You sure ?

D : ( snickered ) Well, i know you are even scared to put your big toe in the yard !

S : ( nodding ) Yup, always running !

J : No I’m not ! You have to think of this carefully ! What will happen if he gouge your eyes out ? You are not scared ?

D : ( murmuring ) Hmm, you are still scared ! ( shaking head ) Aren’t you eager to know what is inside there ? So, you sure you gonna run out on the dare ?

J : Wait ! Lemme think about it !

D : ( wait for a few seconds and sigh ) Ok, ok ! Just touch the house, all right ?

J : You sure ? That is all right ? You sure you are not gonna make up any funny dares when i reach there ?

D : Yes, yes ! Faster ! Go on !

J : I’m going ! I’m going ! Don’t hurry me !

S : Ok, just go on. Dill and I will be right behind you !

( Jem go on and hesitated to open the gate. But, when he did, he ran to the house and tap it. He quickly ran back as quickly as possible. Scout and Dill followed him, but turned back. Then, they saw a shadow )

D : Dis you just see that ?

S : uh – huh ! ( nodding )

( They ran back quickly )

ayuni will be Dill instead of Jem.
brandon will be Jem instead of Dill.
we decided to change the roles because Dill, described in the book is short. so since our group feels that brandon is “tall” to carry out Dill’s role, we decided to swap roles.

taken from language arts blog:
1) What’s your project question /task and what is your understanding of this question?
my group was assigned to make a documentary about war heroines such as Lim Bo Seng, Force136, Elizabeth Choy and Adnan Saidi.
we understand that we need to explain the heroism of these ordinary people who risked their life against the Japanese.
2) How have you managed to answer this project question through the project research and work you have done?
normally, madeleine and weilian will do the research BUT if they need our help, the rest of the group members will definitely help them.

Coz it would not be fair 1 person presents a short slide. ok ? So, on Sunday we will see.

Thats all. Byebye. Thanks.

For camera angles:
Dicussion made in the group:
Before we went to fort siloso, we had decided on the camera angles and positions we will use for taking our shots. In addition, we felt that every shot makes a difference in the result.
Example for this picture:Camera angles used:
For pictures on canons:We used middle angle.
Angle and position: Low position and low angles.
Reason: To show the power of the canon and to be able to capture the canon in between an eye level angle.
2nd image taken:
Angle and position:
For capturing the view of sentosa.
To give a horizontalangle.
Shooting : From a high angle( eye level)and high position( faraway)
Reasons: To let the audience feel comfortable.
From a high angle: to create different eye level tone.
This is used for our introduction in the doccumentary. In addition, it will help to give our audience a clear image and information on our purpose of shoot and the venue of shooting.
Lastly, The place is quite shady and thus, it will also help us to control our light intensity used and exposure of light.
Images used in ending for doccumentary:
We used it as a horizontal long angle to end the video.

Reflections(research skills, history skills like analysing sources, inferring, mindmapping, organising, questioning sources etc, multiliteracies skills(english) such as planning movie, shooting, scripting, storyboarding) July 3, 2008

Reflections:

Wei Lian- After the lesson and the presentation by the other group, I think it is important to master the skill of the basic and applying the reasearch materials using different sources.

Ayuni- Mindmapping is to start from a small topic and answer the 5W 1H that is What, Who, When, Why, Where and How. From this small topic I would make more evaluation by asking these 6 questions. In history, the most important question to ask is ‘Why’?

Qi Hui- I  should use the ‘PEEL’ method to answer the question. There are also two other useful methods we could use when doing our research; they are mindmapping and 5W1H.

Dawn- The hardest questions is the WHY question as the answerer must be able to elaborate on the answer and explain it well.

Brandon- I have also learnt how to film a movie through the different angles, distance and lighting. After the filming, I have also learnt how to edit a movie like mute the unwanted background noise.

Madeleine- I’ve learnt that we should not copy and paste as the information provided has copyright and it is called plagiarizing.

Reflections:

Ayuni-When we go there, it was raining heavily, thus, we could not do anything as all our scenes except the 1st one was suppose to filmed outdoors.

Dawn-When we go to Fort Siloso to film our documentary there, we were unable to do so as it was raining heavily. We could not film because most of our scenes were supposed to be film outdoors, not indoors.

Qi Hui-When we go to Fort Siloso to film our documentary there, we were unable to do so as it was raining heavily. We could not film because most of our scenes were supposed to be film outdoors, not indoors.

Brandon- I have had a few problems while doing the project work with this project, for instance deciphering of Lim Bo Seng’s letter, adding subtitles to the Elizabeth’s Choy video which is in letter and adding of the subtitles for the audio clip.

Wei Lian-I had also learnt on the importance of having a good time management. At times, I also felt that a timetable is important too.

Madeleine-Thankfully, the school allowed us to go to Fort Siloso the second time and this time round; we finished what we supposed to do because we followed our script.
